Ed Sheeran - The A Team [Koan Sound Remix]

The first single to be released now that Ed has signed with Atlantic Records.

Wasn't too sure about how anyone would go about remixing this, but Koan Sound have done a marvellous job. The remix keep the same vibe to the original and actually adds to the song.

There's also a True Tiger remix coming.

Fractal System - Emotive Step

'Maha and Leh are a group idealized as Fractal System, the project was born in 2008. Their production has a unique trademark with tracks composed of strong and glithy basslines, with trippy beats making the public go into a state of mind trip a nom-explainable experience.'

Some dubstep filthyness, sent to me over soundcloud, all the way from São Paulo, Brazil.

Nice production here, which is currently a work in process. Beautiful build up syntheses and sample usage, before dropping into almighty filth.

More from Fractal System on Soundcloud.

Jakwob - Right Beside You feat. Smiler

'On “Right Beside You” Jakwob triangulates around the crevices between pop, dubstep, and hip hop. Upstart MC Smiler chips in with a few choice bars. Into it.' via blahblahblahscience.

Transcending a few genre's with this one. Dance chords, tight rhymes, poppy choruses and some dubstep wobbling baselines.

The result is Niiice.

Been replaying this one again and again and again. All the elements fit together ever so nicely.

Released 19th of June on BoomTing Recordings / Mercury Records.

Example - Changed The Way You Kiss Me [Official Video]

'Armed and ready to take over our airwaves once again his massive comeback single “Changed The Way You Kiss Me” gives us a taste of things to come from his third studio album, “Playing in the Shadows”, released later this year. Produced by dance pioneer Michael Woods, “Changed The Way You Kissed Me” sees Example back on form at his very best. Utilising a dirty bass backdrop infused with big synth-heavy hooks, Example is able to lay over his classic lyrical prowess of tales of girl trouble and unrequited love.'

Example's lead single from the new album gets a video, which showcases the strongest part of his repertoire... this live show.

‘Changed The Way You Kiss Me’ is released by Ministry of Sound on 5th June featuring remixes from Steve Smart, Kris Menace, Mensah and Tom Starr.

Pre-order: Example - Changed The Way You Kiss Me

Below is the behind the scenes footage from the shoot...

Flux Pavilion - Bass Cannon [Official Video]

'The scientist Flux and his minion Doctor P perform some perverted audio experiments on some unwilling candidates in the official video to Bass Cannon!'

This will be appearing on the forthcoming Circus records compilation. Can't wait for that.

Uffie – Wordy Rappinghood

'The illustrious power woman representing Ed Banger to the fullest is back on the scene. Uffie unleashes her latest track "Wordy Rappinghood" which finds her reinterpreting Tom Tom Club's timeless from 1981. Production credits come courtesy of esteemed labelmate DJ Mehdi who makes sure that the listener is in for an energetic experience.' via Hypetrak.

Since the end of last year, I've become a big fan of Uffie.

Wasn't too sure about this when I first had a play, but I heard it on a tv program and instantly recognised the tune and loved it. Uffie's tunes always seem interesting to me, they don't tend towards the same sort of structure of most songs of the same nature. That especially is the case for this song, as my ears are engaged throughout.

This is what I would like pop music to be like.

Beastie Boys - Hot Sauce Committee Part 2 [Album Stream]

'Following a plethora of impressive drops, the Beastie Boys share with fans with yet another treat by making their Hot Sauce Committee Part 2 album available for stream. This is the long-awaited eighth album from the Hip Hop/Rock trio which was produced by Beastie Boys and mixed by Philippe Zdar. This album marks Mike "Mike D" Diamond, Adam "Ad Rock" Horovitz and Adam "MCA" Yauch's first full length effort since 2007's Grammy-winning all-instrumental project, The Mix-Up. via Hypetrak.

Pre-order via iTunes.

True Tiger feat. Professor Green and Maverick Sabre - In The Air

'Mistajam premiered this crazy new single featuring all the parties responsible for the award winning Jungle last year.' via RWD.

Ripped from MistaJam's 1Xtra show.

True Tiger, Pro and Maverick Sabre team up once again, after giving us 'Jungle' from Pro Green's 'Alive till I'm Dead' album. This one comes from True Tiger's forthcoming album, which I believe is being released on Virgin.

'Just over nine years ago, the Nine Bar Sound System was conceived in a leafy Surrey suburb. Skream - Where You Should Be [Laidback Luke Remix]

Skream - Where You Should Be [T.Williams Remix]

Out 16th May on 12" and Digital formats, released by Digital Soundboy.

This remix package has to be one of the best that I've seen, crazy amount of excellent producers. Have been especially looking forward to the Jack Beats one, but there are a couple of surprises on there that I wouldn't have expected. All of them bring there own style to the track.

The Shy FX one is the stand out one for me.

Mr ShaoDow - Get Stronger feat. Ghetts

'The new single from Mr ShaoDow, a hard hitting, bass heavy Dubstep/Grime mix produced by Mister SnoWman. Featuring skillful, high energy lyricism from both ShaoDow and Ghetts the original track is a relentless assault on your speaker system.

The single also features a Dubstep/Rock/Drum and Bass invention by talented producer AK and a third bonus track created by SnoWman entitled ‘Stay Away’ featuring Mr ShaoDow, Ghetts and Vader.'

Lil Silva - On Your Own feat. Sampha + Yonkers [Remix]

'"On Your Own", an advance cut from Silva's forthcoming Patience EP, finds the producer heading further towards funky's poppier, more accessible side, with UK-based producer/vocalist Sampha in tow...

It's Silva who runs the show here, though, as streaks of color and computerized gurgles sail alongside "On Your Own"'s sneakily complicated rhythm.'
via Pitchfork.

Radio Rip taken from MistaJam's 1Xtra show.

This is a great dreamy dance track, the vocal works well with the production. Been hearing a lot of good things about Lil Silva, so I would keep an eye out for him in the future and the EP is something that I'm going to be checking out.

Below is the Lil Silva remix of Tyler, the Creator's 'Yonkers', which is pretty indescribable. A fusion of so many different genre's, definitely worth a listen...

Tyler, The Creator - Yonkers [Lil Silva Remix]

Jamie Woon - Mirrorwriting [Album Stream]

'Woon is the sort of singer-songwriter that record companies love to turn into James Morrison. His mother was a session singer; Woon went to the Brit school...

"I've acquired a taste for silence," runs "Night Air", still Woon's finest three minutes. The sampled wicker chairs and Cornish pebbles, meanwhile, connect this very urban record to organic materials...

For this is really a most cutting-edge R&B pop record; it deserves a little ubiquity.'
via The Guardian.

Out now on iTunes.

Oh My! - Run This Town [RESET! Remix]

Banging electro remix of Oh My's 'Run This Town'.

Reset chop by the vocals, add a driving baseline on top and smash it to pieces.

Goldielocks - F*ckabout feat. Frisco [Video]

'Step into the studio and experience a day in the life of Goldie and Frisco. F*ckabout is a bass driven, bouncy track with a full commentary of studio chat -- catching jokes, chronic and conversation.'

Love this beat.

Out now on iTunes.

Wiley - Numbers in Action [Video]

'It's near impossible to keep up with Wiley's career, despite the fact he's spent most of the year talking to fans on ustream. One minute he's joining forces with Mark Ronson, the next he's giving away everything he's recorded, then he's doing the Electric Boogaloo. Being Wiley must be exhausting.' via The Guardian.

When I heard that Wiley's new album would be released on Big Dada it drew a big grin to my face.

Mostly because they were the label that released my favourite Wiley album 'Playtime Is Over', which I have a signed copy of. They also have a massive reputation of promoting talented artists and their music properly, a very well respected label in my eyes.

This new Wiley tune/video is great and get's me extremely excited about the album.

Wiley made a stripped back/minimal track 'From the Drop' recently with MJ Cole, but this has more energy and punch to it. The video is so effective with the tune.

On a sidenote, can we see more video's like this please? Rapping into a camera on a council estate/green screen just doesn't cut it anymore.

This is slick, artistic, clever and above all simple.

Buy it from Ninjatune NOW!

Oh My! - Run This Town

'Named after a lyric from one of their favourite songs, the Tweet and Missy Elliot anthem ‘Oops (Oh My)’, Alex and Jade are two friends from school who have planted their modern pop sound on 679 artists – the home of Plan B, Marina and The Diamonds, Little Boots and The Streets.'

OK, I couldn't decide weather to post this up or not... so I went away from the computer for a while, came back, pressed play, then found myself humming along to the tune even after the song had finished.

See, it's bloody infectious this one.

I can see a few people connecting with this song, therefore being possibly quite massive then.

More from Oh My! on Facebook, Twitter and ohmyofficial.com

A short clip of their video shoot can be seen here.

The Streets - OMG [The Knocks Remix]

This is being posted, basically, because I don't want the Streets to end.

Nice remix of Mike's last ever single.

The Streets - OMG [Official Video]

This isn't my favourite Streets song, but it will be the one that I will remember the fondest.

March 5th, Brixton Academy.

Lot's of memories, mostly of drinking too much, asking for merlin's instead of marlon's at the bar, meeting the support act's dad, losing a shoe in the mosh pit, throwing half a beer over a woman when don't mug yourself came on, someone pick pocketing my iPhone and finally, seeing myself on a Streets video. Kind of.

Below is said video on the Streets tour, where if you stop at 2.32 you can see me just left centre of the frame (purple polo shirt) with hand in the air, before then cowering like a girl.

Epic.

Skream - Where You Should Be [Video] feat. Sam Frank

'Skream's 'Where You Should Be feat. Sam Frank' is released on Tempa on Monday 16th May in vinyl and digital formats with remixes from Laidback Luke, Shy FX, Jack Beats, Seiji, T. Williams and Zed Bias.

Video Directed by Carl Burgess for Blinkart.

After gaining a cult following for his video for Ratatat's 'Drugs' last year, Carl Burgess worked with production company Blinkart to shoot the video for Where You Should Be. Shooting in a wind tunnel at Queen Mary's University with the help of the aerodynamics laboratory, Burgess made a cast of the model's head and took recordings of the effects that smoke and wind pressure had on the curvatures of the face and body.'

This is what it would sound if Daft Punk made dubstep.

This is a great song, forget a genre. The production, composition, vocals and lyrics are excellent.

One of Skream's best dare I say it.

His album 'Outside The Box' came out last year and this track is still being repeatedly played on my iPod, which is a massive feat with all the music that I consume.

Electronic music at the highest standard.

AP16 - Surface Tension

'We are AP16. Having no one to write a bio for us and not liking to refer to ourselves in the third person we will come straight to the point; what do we sound like? Like we're treading a fine line between danceable musicality and musical danceability. You will have to decide for yourself what you make of it.'

AP16 - Surface Tension

Got sent this over soundcloud and found myself nodding along to it, while it played in the background. Decided that I liked the track after about the fourth or fifth replay.

Incredibly catchy.

Sounds similar to Daft Punk and a tiny bit like Boyz Noize in my head, a lazy comparism I know.

Produced well, nice rhythm, interesting sounds, pulsing synths, 4x4 kicks, sits well with me.

Find more on AP16 on Soundcloud and Twitter.

Engine-EarZ Experiment - Reach You feat. Lena Cullen

'Best described as 'Massive Attack for the dubstep generation;' dubstep's first fully live act are winning an assorted army of fans from Rusko and Nitin Sawhney right through to Adam F and Liam Howlett.

Engine-Earz Experiment's debut album [working title 'Symbol'] aims to reconcile Prash's varied musical passions; smashing what he sees as 'glass divides between genres and ideologies'; fusing indigenous musics from around the world with dubstep and elements of drum'n'bass, electronica and alternative rock.'

Engine-EarZ Experiment - Reach You feat. Lena Cullen [Album Edit]

Nice piece of Dubstep right here from Engine-EarZ.

A great chilled out track, with all the essential elements of Dubstep nailed, perfect for the summer. This is going to get played again and again in this heat.

A bit gutted that I missed them when they were supporting the Streets at Brixton.

'Reach You' is the 1st single from forthcoming album, currently titled, 'Symbol'.

Below is 'Reach You' excellently performed live for 1Xtra...

Chiddy Bang feat. Mac Miller - Heatwave

'Chiddy Bang started some kind of movement over a year ago when they started sampling beats from indie and electronica genres – not your typical, orthodox rap production – which made them such a refreshing duo in an overly redundant rap game...

Miller and the duo from Philly, comprised of Chidera aka Proto and Xaphoon Jones have now collaborated on a new track which samples an oldschool 60s jam by Martha and The Vandellas, which reeks of Jones’ fondness for electro/synth pop backdrops It may or may not appear on Chiddy’s upcoming mixtape, though there is also speculation a proper LP from them is due to come out this year as well.'
via Pretty Much Amazing.

I wasn't going to post this because it's been around for a few days, but it's soooooo good.

The way that Chiddy flip these samples is what I love about them, because they are consistently great at it. This is getting reloaded again and again on my iTunes.

Mac Miller has been getting a bit of hype surrounding his name, so after this I'm going to be checking him out.

KCat vs The Mike Delinquent Project - Live

'KCAT has a beautiful ethereal voice, togethaer with character, edge, feisty subject matters, full-on attitude and fashion forward visuals. One thing for sure is that the listener will be taken on a very interesting journey. KCAT has arrived, and she is certainly what the music industry desperately lacks.'

If there's a genre of music that deserves a little more attention or to be 'brought back', then it's garage. I get nothing but good vibes from listening to it and the same can be said for this track.

Mike sent this over to me and it's really growing on me. The vocals sound nice and I like what he's done with them, it's the kinda tune that you can get lost into. This was on repeat for around half an hour or so and I got slightly hypnotised by it. It's the drum patterns that get me first, if I'm honest and slightly nerdy, but the vocals sit ever so nicely on the track.

A voice made for dance music.

I've known about KCat since 'My Destiny', which I actually used in most of my sets when I was a resident at a few clubs in Northampton. Back when I used to do Baseline sets.

Although most have already been posted before, below are the Mike Delinquent remixes that have been making most of the noise recently...

Royce Da 5’9 feat. Eminem – Writers Block

'It's been a long time coming but Bad finally meets Evil again. Streetrunner and Soram audibly back up Royce Da 5'9 with his clever wordplay while Eminem provides a memorable hook for the "Writers Block". The cut will appear on Royce's upcoming Success is Certain' via Hypetrak.

The best thing about this is that it sounds as if there's more to come.

Makes me incredibly excited.

Below you can see my favourite Royce cut...

Coda - The Breach EP [Stream + Download]

'Coda are a 5-piece live dubstep band from London, and have been producing music together since September 2009, after the members met at the Academy of Contemporary Music.

In the short time they’ve been together, Coda have consistently pushed their own boundaries, raising the bar with each new production. Their sets fuse together the raw energy of a traditional band performance with the flow, excitement and hype of a DJ set.'

Nice dubstep EP here, with very tight production.

Like the way that they use different instrumentation that you wouldn't hear on most dubstep tunes. I mean, how many times do you hear large brass sections in dubstep? You can also tell that these tracks are made to be played live.

A little bit different and worth a look if your deep into your dubstep.

Blood Pressure is the current favourite.

Example - Changed The Way You Kiss Me [Kris Menace Remix]

''Changed The Way You Kiss Me' is the first single from Example's incredible new album 'Playing In The Shadows' and premiered on BBC Radio 1 as Zane Lowe's 'Hottest Record In The World' on 24th March 2011. Aswell as huge support already from the likes of Judge Jules, Mistajam and Steve Smart on national radio already... this single is set to smash the peak-time dancefloors with its clubbier and darker direction. And with amazing mixes from the likes of Steve Smart & Westfunk, Mensah, Tom Starr and Kris Menace, this is a great comeback from Example.'

Big remix. Great drop.

Ed Sheeran - One Take EP [Stream + Free Download]

'20-year-old multi-talented musician Ed Sheeran has announced a free EP download - 'One Take' – which is available now at www.edsheeran.com. The EP features three songs: the previously unheard track 'U.N.I', which will appear on his upcoming debut LP, fan favourite 'You Need Me' and his cover of 'Wayfaring Stranger', all of which were recorded in one take at the Rocket Studios in London last week...

This follows an incredible 3 year journey for Ed, during which the London based singer has played over 600 shows and self released five EPs - the most recent of which, 'Collaborations', featured artists including Devlin, JME and Wiley and ended up at Number 2 in the iTunes chart after just 24 hours. A few weeks later he signed with Atlantic Records and is now in the studio working on his debut album, '+', due out in the summer.'
via Stereoboard.

Massively talented performer and songwriter. An artist that proves that the graft can pay off.

Going to be massive. End of.

Just when I started playing the original again, the remix is released!

I love the original, everything about it is exactly what I like. Great production, big bass kicks and CyHi Da Prince is smart/funny/excellent on the vocals. On of my favourite songs of last year.

Remix doesn't disappoint.

Frank Ocean - nostalgia, ULTRA [Mixtape] [Stream + Download] + The City

'A songwriter who’s penned material for John Legend, Justin Bieber and more, he signed to Island Def Jam around a year ago and proceeded to sit on the shelf (sound familiar?). Last month, he gave his debut album, Nostalgia, Ultra away for free; a move that may have proved smarter than any Def Jam could’ve pulled – he’s now supposedly working with Beyonce.

Nostalgia isn’t just the title of this record – it’s all over it. The first sound you hear on the album is a tape deck rewinding; its first line, “when we were kids.” Later, Ocean sings over MGMT’s ‘Electric Feel’ and The Eagle’s ‘Hotel California’. On the album’s high-points, most obviously the breath-taking ‘Novacane’, this nostalgia’s extremely effecting, honing in on very specific moments and exploring their lasting power...

...if he becomes a superstar then there’s a few songs from this mixtape that long-time fans will doubtless be citing as classics for years to come; for that reason alone, it’s worth your attention.'
via FACT magazine.

I'm lost for words when trying to describe this album, extremely impressed and it has been playing repeatedly on my ipod since I got hold of it on Monday.

I read that he has been compared to Drake, which at points on the mixtape is a fair comment, but I think that it's a tab bit lazy.

Frank Ocean is a cut above the rest, no hesitation in saying that.

Download: nostalgia, ULTRA [Mixtape]

Below is my favourite Frank Ocean track, which I heard via djsemtex.com, which displays how good this guy is at writing songs. Enjoy...

Frank Ocean - The City

Dot Rotten - Normal Human Being [Video]

'Dot Rotten‘s on the money with this one, taken from his forthcoming EP Above The Waves. Produced by Dot and Naughty Boy, this is chilled-out, quality Hip-Hop.

Let’s be serious – when Dot said he was going for a more mainstream sound this year, nobody expected him to be spraying bars on a cheesy European trance beat. Nonetheless, some Grime fans who were wary of his proposed new direction might take solace on hearing this – as an artistic statement of intent “Normal Human Being” is genuinely impressive.'
via Soul Culture.

There's a bit of hype surrounding Dot Rotten at the moment and it's well deserved.

He has been consistently trading shots with Wiley and he is signed to the same management company as Tinchy Stryder, Takeover Ent.

To be honest I hadn't heard anything of Dot Rotten, but have been aware of him for a while.

Quite shameful.

Well, this was before a few months ago when Dot Rotten took part in the first 'Volume Control' for Hyperfrank.

He absolutely smashed it and every single Volume Control that comes out now will be judged and compared to Rotten's. Watch 'Thunder' below, you won't be dissapointed...

Jammer gets serious on this one.

Hopefully this is a warm up for the follow up to last year's 'Jahmanji'.

Swindle feat. Roses Gabor - Spend Is Dough [Out Now] + Royal-T and Roska [Remixes]

'Killing it at the moment with the recent banger Moodswings, funked up producer Swindle has teamed up with songstress Roses Gabor for Spend Is Dough; released through his own imprint Swindle Productions look out for the drop on April 4 featuring remixes from Roska and Royal T!' via RWD.

Swindle - Spend Is Dough feat. Roses Gabor

As soon as I heard the above clip on Swindle's soundcloud I've been waiting to buy this tune.

Really do like the whole vibe to it, the production and vocals from Roses Gabor. Has a touch of a Basement Jaxx feel to it for me.

Toddla T - Take It Back feat. Shola Ama and J2K

'The first single to be taken from Toddla T’s forthcoming new album is the brilliant, Soul II Soul-esque ‘Take it Back’ featuring Shola Ama and J2K.

Since the release of his debut in 2009, Toddla has been working non stop on his second album ‘Watch Me Dance’ (Aug 2011). He’s been busy writing and recording in Sheffield, London and Jamaica, slotting in sessions between his mind-numbing DJ schedule and Radio 1 DJ slots.

In ensuring ‘Watch Me Dance’ was everything Toddla envisaged it could be he’s carefully selected an impressive line up of friends, peers and musical icons to guest vocal, co-produce, remix, co-write with him on the album. Names including previous collaborator Roots Manuva, fellow DJ, producer and remixer Skream, Ms Dynamite, Ross Orton, Wayne Marshall, Donaeo, Roisin Murphy and of course Shola Ama.

Remixes of ‘Take It Back’ will come from The 2 Bears, Dillion Francis, D1, Des Demure and DJ Q. – completing the re-introduction to our boy Toddla as he prepares to stamp his mark all over summer 2011.'

Giggs - Monsta Man [Video]

Could listen to this beat for days!

This ain't a single, it's from a free mixtape. Giggs consistently continues to deliver.
